After being in the travel industry for years, I’ve learned that some of the BEST travel tips aren’t the obvious ones!
Here are 5 things I wish every traveler knew sooner because they can save you money, stress, and make your trips so much better.
1️⃣ NEVER choose USD at international ATMs.
If an ATM overseas asks if you want to be charged in U.S. dollars or local currency… pick local currency every time.
The “USD option” usually comes with terrible exchange rates and hidden markups.
2️⃣ Hotel room assignments are NOT random.
If you wait until late check-in, you’re usually getting whatever rooms are left over.
A simple polite message before arrival asking for:
• a quiet room
• higher floor
• better view
• away from elevators
can honestly make a huge difference.
3️⃣ Peak season is overrated.
Some of the BEST travel experiences happen just outside the busiest times:
☀️ Caribbean in May
🍷 Italy in October
🌊 Greece in September
🍀 Ireland in June
Less crowds. Better prices. More enjoyable overall.
4️⃣ Always look at hotel pricing before flights.
This is a HUGE mistake people make.
A destination may have cheap airfare… but hotel prices can triple because of:
• concerts
• festivals
• conventions
• sporting events
Hotels usually reveal what’s really happening in a city.
5️⃣ Overpacking makes travel harder. 😂
The most seasoned travelers usually pack LESS.
One of my favorite hacks is sticking to one color scheme so everything matches together.
Less luggage = less stress.
Travel gets so much easier when you know the little things most people never think about ✈️
