What a Dirty Air Filter Can Lead To
These air filters were heavily restricted with dust and debris, reducing airflow throughout the system.
When airflow is restricted, the problem doesn't stop at the filter. Over time, dirt and contaminants make their way deeper into the air handler and begin accumulating on the blower wheel.
In this case, the blower wheel had become heavily coated, reducing its ability to move air efficiently through the evaporator coil.
The result can be: • Reduced cooling performance • Increased system run time • Evaporator freeze-ups • Higher electrical consumption • Premature wear on system components
As part of this service, the blower wheel was thoroughly cleaned and airflow was restored.
Routine maintenance is one of the most cost-effective ways to keep marine A/C systems operating efficiently and avoid larger repairs down the road.

Flybridge Freezer Leak Repair & System Rework
Customer reported the flybridge freezer was no longer maintaining temperature.
During diagnostics, we found multiple refrigerant leaks around the expansion valve assembly. Over time, several repair fittings had been added, creating additional potential leak points and making future service more difficult.
Rather than continue patching the existing assembly, we removed the unnecessary fittings and fabricated a new valve assembly with fewer connections and a cleaner layout. The assembly was then insulated and reinstalled.
Reducing the number of joints in a refrigeration system not only helps eliminate current leaks but also improves long-term reliability.
Sometimes the best repair isn't adding another fitting—it's removing the ones that shouldn't be there.

Proper airflow starts with proper duct design.
Follow-up from last week’s 42’ HCB DC air conditioning replacement.
Along with replacing the failed unit, we redesigned the airflow distribution by fabricating a custom plenum box to better manage duct routing and improve air delivery throughout the cabin.
We also cleaned up wiring connections, remounted components properly, and improved overall service access to increase long-term reliability and future serviceability.
Small installation details make a big difference in how these systems perform over time.

When a DC air conditioning system stops working, proper diagnosis comes before replacement.
This 42’ HCB had a DC air conditioning unit that was not operating. After removing the unit, we completed a full bench test to evaluate system condition and determine whether repair or replacement made the most sense for the customer.
During inspection we also identified several installation concerns, including wiring issues and limited service access that would have affected long-term reliability.
Once testing confirmed the extent of the problems, the customer elected to replace the unit rather than continue investing in repairs.
Taking the time to properly diagnose and bench test equipment helps ensure customers can make informed decisions instead of guessing at the next step.
Follow-up photos of the new installation and airflow improvements coming next.

Chilled Water Loop Leak — Main Branch Repair
Customer reported their freshwater pump cycling unexpectedly and suspected water loss from the chilled water loop.
Inspection led us to a ruptured section of insulated hose located in a main branch of the chilled water system.
We removed the damaged section, installed a proper repair coupling, and restored the loop the same day.
Leaks in a main branch can affect system stability across multiple air handlers and introduce air into the loop if left unresolved. Catching and repairing issues like this early helps prevent larger performance problems down the line.

Salon A/C Replacement – Dual Self-Contained Units
We were originally called out to diagnose a salon A/C issue on the forward unit and found a failed condenser coil.
Shortly after the inspection, the aft salon unit failed as well. With both systems down, the decision was made to replace both self-contained units to restore reliable cooling to the space.
Replacing both units at the same time helps prevent repeat service interruptions and keeps the system operating reliably instead of relying on aging components nearing failure.
Both installations were completed with attention to airflow, wiring layout, and long-term service accessibility.
Reliable cooling starts with a solid installation.

Seawater Pump Performance Restoration
System cooling performance was reduced due to low seawater flow.
Inspection found a failed pump impeller restricting circulation. After replacement, system flow increased from 8 GPM to 23 GPM, restoring proper operation.
Maintaining proper seawater flow is critical to keeping marine A/C systems operating efficiently and preventing unnecessary high-pressure faults or shutdowns.

Fish Box Refrigeration Leak Repair — Valhalla 55
The port fish box wasn’t reaching temperature.
Leak check traced the issue to a failed flexible refrigeration line. The damaged section was removed and the system repaired, pressure tested, evacuated, and returned to service.
Another system back online and ready for the next trip.

Before & After — Marine A/C Replacement
This older Dometic unit developed a leak at the evaporator and airflow through the coil had become restricted.
Rather than continue repairing aging equipment, we replaced the system with a new CTM marine air conditioning unit to restore proper performance and reliability.
Upgrading failing components before they create larger issues helps prevent unexpected downtime during the season.

Marine A/C Compressor Not Running — Electrical Repair
This compressor was not operating due to overheated wiring at the contactor connection.
Inspection revealed damaged terminals and burnt wiring at the contactor. The contactor and affected wiring were replaced, and ferrules were installed on the new connections to provide a more secure and reliable termination than the original quick-disconnect connections.
Upgrading these connections helps improve reliability and protect critical components like compressors in marine environments.
System operation was verified after repairs.
