🌊💙 Opening day may have looked a little different this year… but some things haven’t changed! ☀️🚤

This weekend would normally have been the kickoff to scallop season here on St. Joseph Bay. While there weren’t any scallops being harvested this year, there were still plenty of familiar faces, new faces, sunshine, laughter, and memories being made on the water!

We loved seeing so many of our returning customers who come back year after year, and we were just as excited to welcome new families and groups to Bayou Boat Rentals. 💙

These crews proved that even without scalloping, there’s still SO much to enjoy on St. Joseph Bay. They cruised, swam, explored, relaxed, enjoyed the boats, and most importantly, still had a blast together! 🐬☀️🌊

We’re thankful for everyone who chose to keep their plans and spend their day on the Bay with us. Your support means so much, especially during a season that looks a little different for our community.

And while we’re making the most of this summer, we’re already looking forward to seeing all of these familiar faces again next year for what we hope will be a REAL scallop season opening day! 🐚💙

🌊 IMPORTANT 2026 ST. JOSEPH BAY UPDATE 🌊

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has announced that the 2026 recreational bay scallop harvest season in the Gulf County Zone, including St. Joseph Bay, will be CLOSED this year.

FWC’s summer survey found very low scallop numbers in St. Joseph Bay, and the closure is intended to give the scallops currently in our waters the opportunity to spawn, rebuild their population, and hopefully help protect scallop seasons for years to come. 💙

While we know scalloping has long been a favorite summer tradition for locals and visitors alike, protecting the health of our Bay and its wildlife is incredibly important.

☀️ But here’s the GOOD NEWS: St. Joseph Bay is still OPEN and ready to be enjoyed!

🎣 Fishing
🏊 Swimming
🐬 Dolphin watching
🏝️ Exploring the Bay
☀️ And, of course, spending a beautiful day on the water!

Only the harvesting of bay scallops is closed.

There are still so many reasons to grab the family, pack the cooler, and spend the day exploring one of the most beautiful places on the Forgotten Coast. 🌊💙

We’ll continue to support efforts to protect and restore our Bay, and we’re hopeful that giving our scallop population this time to recover means many more scalloping summers in our future.

🇺🇸☀️ Sweet summertime is here, and we’ve been gearing up for one of our favorite weeks of the year… Fourth of July! ☀️🇺🇸

It’s been a busy week on St. Joseph Bay, and we couldn’t be more thankful! ❤️ From families making lifelong memories, to bachelor and bachelorette parties, to friends soaking up the sunshine, our boats and jet skis have been staying busy.

One of the best parts of what we do is seeing so many familiar faces return year after year. Watching your families grow and being part of your vacation traditions means more to us than you’ll ever know. We’ve also had the pleasure of welcoming first-time guests, and we hope your day on the bay is just the beginning of many more adventures with us!
