We hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend spent with family, friends, and community as we took time to remember and honor those who served.⚓

We’re also very excited to share that the Port’s new ice machine is officially up and running!

We know our fleet has been patiently waiting for this upgrade, and we want to sincerely thank our community for bearing with us while we worked through sourcing and installing the new machine. We truly appreciate everyone’s patience, understanding, and support throughout the process.

A special thank you goes out to Wilson Thompson, Phillip Russum, and our amazing dock staff for all their hard work and dedication in successfully completing the installation. This project would not have happened without your time, effort, and teamwork.

We would also like to thank the Oregon Coast Visitors Association (The Oregon Coast) for granting us the funding to bring this critical infrastructure back to our port!

Heads up, fishing community 👋

There’s a great opportunity coming up nearby for hands-on safety training designed specifically for commercial fishing crews. AMSEA will be hosting a 3-day combo course in Coos Bay, April 15–17, and we want to help spread the word.

The training covers First Aid/CPR/AED, Fishing First Aid & Safety Training (FFAST), and Drill Conductor training. It’s practical, on-the-water focused, and built around the real situations crews face at sea.

What’s included:
• Breakfast and lunch each day
• A free first aid kit per vessel
• A free PFD for each participant
• On-vessel drills
• Drill Conductor card

The Drill Conductor portion is $50, and the FFAST portion is free.

Sign up at amsea.org/class-registration or scan the QR code on the flyer.

Good news for the fleet — the Port has ordered a new 5-ton ice machine, similar in design to the one we previously had. The unit is expected to arrive in time to help meet the demand for ice ahead of the 2026 halibut openers.

This machine isn’t a permanent fix, but it will help fill the immediate need while we continue working toward a long-term solution.

The purchase was made possible thanks to funding from the Oregon Coast Visitors Association, and we’re grateful for their support in helping us respond to the needs of our fleet.

We’ll keep everyone posted as we get closer to delivery and installation. Thanks for your patience and continued support of the Port!
