Blue Water Area Transit

Blue Water Area Transit Blue Water Area Transit BWAT continues a proud tradition of innovation in public transit that has served Port Huron for more than a century.

Port Huron was one of the nation's first communities to operate an electrified transit system in the 1880s and one of the first to operate motor coaches when they became popular in the 1930s. Following an eight-year hiatus, the current bus service began in September 1976. Since then, BWAT has carried more than 26 million riders. BWAT continues the tradition of innovation by producing its own compr

essed natural gas alternative fuel since 1996. BWAT operates the largest fleet of alternative fuel buses in Michigan. The agency also ranks as the state's largest producer of CNG. Blue Water Area Transit is an Equal Opportunity Employer

In Loving Memory of our driver, Jacob Andrew Gourley.
Jacob was born on December 28, 1992, and passed suddenly April 27, 2026 at McLaren Hospital in Port Huron, Michigan.

When Jacob was young, he loved trains and Dodge Ram trucks. He also loved to have big rig trucks honk their horns, and when they did, he was all smiles. As he grew up, he enjoyed many different things, such as video games, reading books and going to see Star Wars and action movies.
In 2019, Jacob married his childhood sweetheart and was married for seven years before his death. He loved Candy as he affectionately called her.
He was a bus driver for Blue Water Transit for seven years.
Jacob is survived by his loving wife, Candice Gourley of Port Huron, grandmother, Dorothy Lockard of Chesterfield, mother-in-law, Shawntelle Roosevelt, brother-in-law, Larry Lonsby III, grandmother in law, Romona Dickens, extended family, including many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Marie McClaren and his father, Elvis Gourley.
