A brake violation can cost you a lot more than a repair bill. 🚛

Brake systems remain one of the most closely watched areas during roadside inspections, and problems like improper adjustment, worn components, air leaks, damaged hoses, and contaminated linings can quickly turn into violations or an out-of-service order.

The best time to find a brake issue is before the inspector does.

A solid pre-trip isn’t just checking a box. Drivers and carriers should be paying attention to:

• Air pressure and warning systems
• Audible air leaks
• Brake adjustment and pushrod travel
• Hoses, chambers, drums/rotors and linings
• ABS warning lights
• Anything that looks, sounds, or feels different than it did yesterday

Small issues have a way of becoming expensive ones… especially once they start affecting your CSA data, downtime, and bottom line.

Tires might seem like the obvious part of a pre-trip… but they’re still catching drivers roadside.

Tread depth. Tire pressure. Damage. Exposed cords. Flat or leaking tires. What looks like a “small” issue in the yard can turn into an out-of-service violation on the road.

A few extra minutes before you roll is a whole lot cheaper than sitting roadside.
