Recommendations from RFD ATC to reduce close encounters and keep safe space between us as GA traffic and the airline traffic into RFD.

1. Know in advance which way RFD is landing and avoid the extended centerline of Runway 25 and 19.
2. Continue to use the area NE of C77 for practice and avoid areas around I-90 north of RFD and Belvidere east of Rockford.
3. Monitor 121.0 at the very least.
4. Better yet, call 121.0 and request a transponder code. They would love to be able to reach you and avoid a tight situation. Our students will be enlisting the above as we speak.

Rochelle jumpers are coordinating well with the tower, ask for help if headed that way. Beloit is starting to jump again and is not communicating well with RFD.

The airlines are going to continue to do their thing no matter what our opinion is on the topic. If their TCAS goes off or they are forced to do a go-around because of an unstable approach, they will write it up and send it off to the FAA. It is up to us to cooperate and keep ourselves safely separated to avoid future restrictions on our airspace.

🍔✈️ What a fantastic day at Poplar Grove Airport!
On May 16th, we celebrated our very first annual Employee & Family BBQ, and it was everything we could have hoped for and more! From delicious hamburgers and hotdogs hot off the grill from Rusty Drum BBQ, to wagon ride tours around the property, inflatable fun for the kids, vintage biplane rides, and plenty of games to play — the day was filled with laughter, sunshine, and great memories.
But what made this day truly special wasn’t just the activities… it was the people.
To every Poplar Grove Airport employee and volunteer — Thank you for your incredible hard work, your dedication, and the pride you bring to this airport every single day. You make PGA not just a workplace, but a true family. Watching everyone relax, connect, and enjoy time together with their loved ones reminded us why we do what we do.
At PGA, we really are ALL family. ❤️
