I created this off The Johnny Cash tube while driving from Red Lion 6 hr sleeping stay this morning to this bunker up place. I hear a hurricane a coming. It's coming Round the bend. And no one has seen one like it since I don't know when. We were stuck in Bradenton and time was dragging on. Milton is a coming before too long. I hear the winds a howling, thunder rolling in. Tornadoes surround us, swirling a round and round. By half past midnight we were inland bound. Do do di do do ooo dooo. We drove into the dark night hoping to lay our heads down. cruising up the I-75, jalopy in the rain. Praying we can wipe the inside glass and still see well ahead. Cop pulled over a speeder while we kept a cool 65. Barely any traffic all the way to Orlando town. No 8 hour hell ride or crazy drivers found. Fastest trip there ever, with 12 hours to spare. So we pulled to the rest stop, hoping for a few winks and cooler air. It was stuffy, wet and humid. Mosquitoes made a meal out of us all. Pull out that cell phone and pray we find something near. Secured a Big Red Lion 🦁 and kayed our heads down a spell. Talked the owners into opening up sooner and here we are in a heavenly hell. Milton is a coming, he's roaring 'round the bend, bringibg devastation, nothing will be the same again. But through the kindness of others, we have found a small heaven!.....

5/11 Today in Florida History from the Florida Historical Society!

1906 – The first woman to break the speed of sound in an airplane, Jacqueline Cochran, was born in Muscogee, near Pensacola, on this date. Cochran began flying airplanes in the early 1930s after moving to New York, and was soon competing in a number of speed races. During World War II, she became the director of the WASP (Women Airforce Service Pilots) program which trained hundreds of female pilots. After the war, Cochran began flying jet aircraft and continued to break records and push the boundaries of aviation. She holds more speed and distance records than any other pilot, male or female.
