Sharing a reminder about this week’s CVSA Roadcheck.

The CVSA International Roadcheck 2024 begins this week, Tuesday, May 14, and ends Thursday, May 16. Are you ready?!

This three-day focused enforcement event occurs across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This year, two focus areas are tractor protection systems and alcohol and controlled substances. These aren’t the only areas of focus, though! Like every day, carhaul professionals must ensure that they and the equipment they operate comply with regulations.

Remember, we share the road with friends and family. Let’s work together to keep our roads safe! That’s why we are Driven to Deliver.

“What I like about Haully is that I can self-assign loads to my drivers and don’t have to wait for a dispatcher,” said new Haully Pro Carrier Chadwick Spanel. “I also like the fact that I can see everything out there in my lane. And the best part is that you can easily find backhauls.”

Chadwick founded CPS Logistics in Tuttle, Oklahoma, in 2014. “I was in corporate America for 20 years, working for a multi-million-dollar company managing fifty employees. I was stressed and unhappy because my pay was on the same level as everyone else’s, regardless of how hard I worked. I had some friends in the carhauling business who were doing well. I decided to get into the industry and never looked back. I am stress-free, and my pay is based on my performance and no one else. I could not be happier with the decision I made.”

We learned that Chadwick is the father of four and enjoys the freedom of having a career that enables him to spend time with his family. “I am the baseball coach for my youngest son’s baseball team. I love baseball. I played in high school and have been coaching for about three years. When I am home, the family loves going to the lake to go fishing, boating, and camping.”

Buds LLC was founded in 2020 by four long-time carhauling friends. The team is located in Rolling Meadows, Illinois, and owns eleven nine-vehicle haulers. Clever name! 😂

According to Dispatcher Unubold Tsolmon, the Buds team focuses on safety and on-time delivery. “We always inspect all our trucks. We also communicate well with our drivers because we receive many updates from our brokers.”

Unubold works hard to keep their trucks loaded. “I start planning the week’s loads on Sunday. It gives me a head start. After booking loads, I plan routes to keep my drivers in business. The Haully load board is easy to book and cancel at any time. The best part about the site is that we have access to the BOLs after the delivery.”

Since friends started Buds LLC, we asked how they work together. Unubold said, “Our team loves to play golf. We often do team building while on the golf course. We ensure that our entire staff gets time with their loved ones throughout the year.”

“My brother is a carhauler and suggested I should start my own business. I immediately became interested because I knew I had the potential to make good money, so I got licensed. I bought my truck and have been in business since 2016 in Burlington, New Jersey. I enjoy everything about being a carhauler. It can be stressful and challenging sometimes, but it is worth it,” Luis said.

We want to thank new Haully Pro Carrier Alex Francois for his service to our great country. Alex proudly served in the U.S. Army. After his service ended, he became a salesperson at a car dealership. "I've always been passionate about cars, so I knew I wanted to be around them. I also love driving trucks. So, I put the two together and decided that carhauling was the perfect career for me. I bought a seven-car hauler, and I haven't looked back. I love carhauling more than everything that I have done before."

In 2017, Alex founded A&Q Trucking Logistics, LLC in Kileen, Texas. Alex is an avid Haully user. "I like the ability to secure freight at any time. If it's 3 a.m., I can book the freight for the morning. I don't have to wait until 8 a.m. to see if it's available. I know that I can get loads quickly and at any time."

As business owners, Haully users oversee entire operations—and haul and deliver vehicles. Alex said his philosophy is to do it right the first time! "Taking your time is important because an extra 10 minutes could save you thousands of dollars. My first step is looking at the list of cars I am loading and placing each unit in the best position on the trailer to maximize space and time and avoid damage. I ensure that each strap on the trailer is secure. There is less room for error when you take your time and double-check everything."

“My dispatcher usually finds all my loads on Haully,” said new Haully Pro Carrier Sergio Perez, owner of Multibusiness Transport Inc. “Haully is my first option for loads. With a nine-vehicle hauler, sometimes it’s difficult to find a full load, but Haully never disappoints. I stay loaded every week!”

“In the carhaul business, everything is essential. It’s important to speak with your dispatcher daily to ensure you know your loads for the day and week,” Sergio said. “I advise carhaulers to become familiar with dealership managers and sales representatives. Building relationships helps grow your business. And, to prevent damages, I double-check everything because I will lose money if damages occur.”

Our new Pro launched his business in 2012 in Reseda, California. To help save money, Sergio became a premium National Vehicle Transporters Alliance (NVTA) member in October 2022. He enjoys significant insurance, parts, and fuel cost savings and can access roadside assistance 24/7.

“Years ago, my friend, who was in the carhaul business, helped me get started,” he said. “I was looking for a career that interested me and the potential to make a decent living. My friend was making good money, so it caught my attention. Before I started, I researched the field, listened to my friend’s advice, and founded Multibusiness Transport.”

We look forward to many days in spring, but April 15 is generally not one of them. Did you know that Haully can help make tax prep easier? New Haully Pro Carrier Andrian Stegarescu said, “We use Haully to generate all our invoices to QuickBooks. The Haully tool will make your tax season feel like a breath of fresh air.”

He and his wife, Ecaterina Melnicov, founded BFS Trucking Inc. in Plainfield, Illinois, in 2021. Their team has already grown to four nine-vehicle haulers. “Haully is helpful. I have no problem finding loads for our locations. I know Haully will always have what I need,” he said.

“A fun fact about our company is that we are learning from United Road,” Andrian said. “We are trying to build our company to become big. We value our drivers’ opinions, and they always give advice on how to run our business. The most valuable suggestion they have given me and my wife is to be patient and calculate every step. Without these carhaulers, I don’t think my company would be as successful as we are today.”

Excellence is a decision carhaul operators make every day. Andrian shared, “We run our business by working safely. We never want to damage any vehicle when we pick up and deliver. At the end of the transaction, we want everyone to be happy. Every month, we take our trucks to the shop and check everything. We go to the oil shop to maintain our routine oil change. We double-check everything, making sure the straps are properly strapped. You must pay attention and check everything 100% of the time. Safety is key. Carhauling is not an easy business, and every single day, we are learning something new.”

Carhaul careers can provide a lifetime of rewarding and lucrative work. William Dale Cox launched Cox Trucking in 2002 in Norwood, North Carolina.

"Over the years, I have done a bit of every type of driving. One day, I met a guy who was hauling cars. I have always been interested in cars, and hauling vehicles is all about cars!" William adds, "My car knowledge usually sparks a conversation with my customers, and we have a good experience."

William said Haully helps make him successful. "I can go on Haully and search the states that I want. It shows what is available. You can see loads claimed, in progress, and the pay rate. It's a good app."

Carhaul owners often share that every part of running a successful business is important. "I make sure I follow all the rules and regulations. When I say I am going to do something, I do it. When you are a carhauler, your word and service are all you have. I always want to make a good impression."

“Our dispatch team can claim any load, and we don’t need to make a call. We can see all the loads on Haully and book them anytime,” said Soko Sain, who dispatches for SB Transport Services LLC in Ontario, California.

“Our company started in 2019. We regularly transport new vehicles, so safety is a priority. We want to prevent damages and insurance claims,” Soko said. “Our drivers are experienced and double-check everything—from the straps, wheels, and any necessary maintenance on the trailer.”

SB Transport Services is among our newest Haully Pro Carriers, launching their company a few months before the pandemic. “Everyone we knew was opening a trucking operation. Even though it’s a risky business, we knew there was potential to make a lot of money. And who doesn’t want to be financially secure? We took advice from friends. We jumped into this career, and it has been worth the risk,” Soko added.

Carhaul careers can be exhilarating for those with adventurous spirits. Soko said, “Our carhaul team loves to travel and explore unfamiliar places. Traveling is fun, and learning about diverse cultures is exciting.”
