Hello Aviator Bees:

This is Angela Leedy, your host of The Hive. My deepest apologies for the lack of involvement The Hive has shown in the last year or so. Life got very busy for me in the later part of last year as I was traveling the country. As most of you all know by now, my husband became sick and passed away not too long ago as well. I have had to pick up many pieces and go through many different phases during this part of my life, but I am pleased to announce that things are finally settling down. I hope that all of you have continued to spread your wings and have some fun flying anywhere and everywhere! Thank you to all those who continued to post flyouts and aviation events/activites to help those elsewhere be involved all over the country. This group started so that we can share what we passionately love to do with others no matter where they are based. Sharing rides, barnstorming, educational activities, etc all bring the aviation world closer together. So I would like to just say that The Hive will strive to double it's membership and reach even more people around the country as it progresses into the future. It is late in the season to do the contests we used to do, but you can bet that there will be many more throughout the following year. You can also expect many more events being posted and hopefully attended. The Hive appreciates all those that stayed with the group thus far even though it had such a long lull in activity.

Sincerely,

The Hive

Angela Leedy, Host

Some of you may have heard that my airplane will be going down for an overhaul around the second week of November. I am proud to say that JB Aircraft Engine Services (http://www.jbaircraftengines.com) will be the overhaul company that I am entrusting to do this. I have interviewed several overhaul companies, some of which are reputable and some of which weren't, but JB Aircraft Engine Services has impressed me the most. JB thus far made me feel like my business was very important to them. One of the first things Jimmy said on a voice mail to me when returning my call was how he was "eager to EARN my business". He didn't advise me that they were too busy or preoccupied with other activities as some of those other reputable companies have. He was most personable and very concerned about our relationship and the satisfaction he hoped I would get from using his services. They are also a turn-key operation which also attracted me. Drop it off and pick it up....they do it all! Love that!

So, come mid-November I will be dropping my plane off in Sebring, FL but I've also decided to make it another journey very similar to the mid-west trip I took earlier this year (sheesh, do I ever slow down?) Here is the latest itinerary:
October 10 or 11th, head out to Punta Gorda, FL for the Punta Gorda Airshow that I was invited to be static display AND also asked about speaking to one of the schools while I am out there (so cool to get to share that with young peoples). October 15th I will then head out to New Orleans to see my high school friend Jodi Lynn Lopez and hopefully get to take her flying. I will hang around New Orleans for a while as I have never been there before. Then around October 22nd head out to Texas for the Reklaw Fly-in until October 29th. I then plan to head back to New Orleans for the famous Top Gun event (private folks). That ends November 5th in which I will then finally head out to Love's Landing to see my friend Dave and then to Sebring, FL to drop my airplane off.

The reason I am posting this long long post, is to ask for suggestions on things to do, places to eat, stay, drink, etc. When I did the mid-west trip Facebook was my most valuable tool as so many fb friends suggested things I would have never knew existed. Also, I gained so many new friends like James Schrag, Jim Savage, Ben Taylor, and so many others!!! So any advice anyone can give will be very much appreciated! Keep in mind the itinerary is not set in stone other than Punta Gorda Airshow. Thank you!!!

Looking for a partner in crime to accompany me on a flight to Sun n' Fun. Will have a minimum of one night layover as the flight is 10 hours with no winds. There is no cost for the ride. However, you will be responsible for your own food and accommodations. Plan to depart New Jersey on April 1st and return home on April 9th. You do not need to travel both ways. I am willing to drop you off in FL. Please message me if interested.

Hello aviator bees! Hope you all have been busy buzzing the skies with this gorgeous weather we have been having....well at a least in the northeastern part of the country....

We have a very exciting contest during the month of July. Some of you may have heard of a North American B25 Mitchell, specifically one known as Panchito.

As one of our monthly contests, The Hive, with the help and generosity of the Delaware Aviation Foundation (in particular Mr. Larry Kelley, owner and Museum Director), is offering a free ride in this beautifully kept warbird (http://www.delawareaviationmuseum.org/aircraft/b-25.html) located in Georgetown, DE at Coastal Delaware Airport. Here is how it works:

Member must post the highest number of aviation related events/activities on the Hive meetup site

Event/activitiy must be original to the site. If someone posts a duplicate it will not be counted towards their total posts.

Member does NOT have to attend these events/activities to win this contest. It will be based solely on quantity of posts. If you do not want to host the event or attend the event, please rsvp NO and remove your name as host by simply unchecking your name. Contact me if you need any further assistance with this at [email protected] or 908-342-4946.

Prize is redeemable at the October 1st (rain date October 2nd) Wings and Wheels event located in Georgetown, DE. (http://www.wings-wheels.com)

Prize is NON-Transferable

Contest is open to all Hive members nationwide. Aviation event/activities may be located anywhere throughout the United States.

Winner must be in good health and strength condition to get in and out of this heavy metal airplane. Call for more information on restrictions. 908-342-4946

Don't miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity and help promote aviation!
