For many cruises leaving and returning to the same U.S. port, you can use a birth certificate + photo ID.

But a passport is always the best option — especially for international cruises or unexpected travel changes! 🌎

Always double check your specific itinerary requirements before sailing.

Europe, one-way cruises, and many international sailings DO require passports.

There’s no single “best” age for a cruise — it really depends on the type of vacation you want. But here’s a good breakdown by stage of life:

* Babies & toddlers (6 months–4 years): Great for family time and convenience since you only unpack once. Best on family-focused lines like Disney Cruise Line or Royal Caribbean with splash pads, nurseries, and kid-friendly dining.

* Kids (5–12): One of the BEST ages for cruising. Kids clubs, pools, waterslides, characters, and activities keep them entertained nonstop while parents can relax.

* Teens (13–17): Also a sweet spot. Cruises give teens independence in a safe environment with sports courts, arcades, teen lounges, and late-night activities.

* 20s & young adults: Great for friend groups, nightlife, and adventure. Lines like Virgin Voyages and Carnival Cruise Line are especially popular here.
