🚛 For the drivers out here this week

One of my favorite parts of the week was seeing drivers get a chance to step away from the road and spend time together.

The cookouts and giveaways were fun, but the conversations stood out most to me. Seeing drivers share stories, catch up with each other and take a well-earned break was a good reminder of the people behind the miles. I'm grateful for everything drivers do, day in and day out, to keep freight moving reliably through all kinds of conditions.

This Labor Day is about you and every mile you move 🙌

Early mornings. Long hauls. The kind of grit that never asks for a spotlight. That's what shows up out here every day.

The miles add up quiet. No applause at the truck stop, no crowd waiting at the dock. Just reliable drivers doing the work, backing each other up and getting the load there. That steady effort keeps things moving for the rest of us. Today's a good day to slow down and appreciate it.

I’ve noticed the jobs that stick are the ones that feel steady over time.

Not every driving role is built the same. Some are more short-term, while others are set up with reliable freight and defined schedules that help you find a rhythm.

From what I’ve seen, that consistency makes a difference. It’s easier to think long-term when you’re not wondering what the next load looks like. Over time, drivers can also move between fleets or take on roles like training or mentoring.

🚛 For the drivers out here every day.

The wheels keep turning because drivers show up and get it done.

As someone who works alongside drivers, I'm always impressed by the commitment and reliability it takes to keep freight moving day after day. The miles, early mornings and late nights are what keep shelves stocked, businesses running and communities connected. I'm grateful for the work drivers do and the experience they bring to the road every day.

If there's one theme that keeps coming up in conversations about freight risk, it's visibility.

My colleague Rodney Cromwell, Vice President - Commercial, Enterprise Sales, spends a lot of time talking with shippers and brokers about the risks that chameleon carriers bring.

I recently read his article where he describes a chameleon carrier as one that shuts down after safety violations, compliance issues or fraud concerns, then reopens under a new name. On paper, they look brand-new and reliable. In reality, they may be the same operation with the same risks.

How are you spotting the carriers that don't add up?

Brake Safety Week is here, and it's a reminder that safety starts long before an inspection.

As CVSA's Brake Safety Week takes place across North America, roadside inspections will focus on identifying brake violations and defects, with special attention on brake drums and rotors.

While I may not be behind the wheel or under the hood, I see firsthand the dedication it takes to keep our equipment road-ready. To me, Brake Safety Week is a chance to recognize the drivers and technicians who make safety a priority every day. Their attention to detail helps ensure our trucks are ready for the road and our communities are safer because of it.

It's also a reminder that safety is a shared responsibility. Whether it's performing a thorough inspection, reporting a concern or making a repair, every action plays a role in keeping our operations moving safely. I'm proud to be part of a team committed to doing things the right way. Thank you to the drivers and technicians who help keep safety at the center of everything we do.

I want to give a big congratulations to Kayla Stocco on earning the 2026 Women in Supply Chain Award!
