Delaware River conditions, Saturday, October 3 - Philadelphia Cup Regatta edition

How today's weather plays out...

There's a light north breeze... Observed 9 kn gusting to 11 from 030 on my transit to Penn's Landing Marina this morning at 0600... The NWS has 2-5 kn predicted. It'll be comfortable on deck, cooler than we've had all week, with the sun coming through in pieces and the river close to flat under it. Cloud thickens later on and rain is due tomorrow, so this is the dry half of the weekend. We'll be out the whole day today for the Philadelphia Cup Regatta Observer sails. It looks like it'll be a pleasant but technical regatta.

Tides at Philadelphia Low 2:06 AM, 1.1 ft High 7:25 AM, 5.6 ft Low 2:06 PM, 1.0 ft High 7:47 PM, 6.6 ft

Dawn 6:00 AM, sunrise 7:03 AM, sunset 6:35 PM, dusk 7:37 PM

Forecaster Discussion

Mount Holly has today partly sunny with a high near 72°F and a north wind around 5 mph. The Delaware Bay forecast runs higher, north 10 to 15 kt gusting to 20 kt this morning, becoming northeast 5 to 10 kt this afternoon. The ebb runs south under that breeze from the 7:25 AM high until the tide turns at 2:06 PM, and the flood sets against it through the afternoon... shouldn't raise more than a ripple. Tonight brings increasing clouds and a low around 58°F, with the northeast breeze holding near 5 mph.

Assembled from NOAA and NWS data. Corrections welcome.
