Today we had the opportunity to visit Reservatauro RondaTejada a 200-hectare breeding estate and eco-tourism park called Reservatauro. It is beautiful country located just outside of Ronda. The ranch is situated within a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and offers an up-close look at the breeding and raising of fighting bulls across all their life stages, without any in-ring fighting or kills.
The ranch is owned by Rafael Tejada, a prominent Spanish matador and breeder of fighting bulls based in Ronda, Spain. Rafael Tejada was educated as an engineer in Madrid, but he followed his passion for bullfighting later in life and became a recognized matador. Today, he is highly involved in the preservation and breeding of the toro bravo (fighting bull) and pure Andalusian.
Ronda is widely considered the cradle of modern, on-foot bullfighting. It is home to the Plaza de Toros de Ronda, one of the oldest and most beautiful stone bullrings in all of Spain, inaugurated in 1785.
