Putting together a Christmas festival takes countless hours of planning, creativity, and teamwork—from stringing lights in the cold to coordinating entertainment, treats, and joyful surprises. It’s hard work, but every effort is made with the hope that people will feel the warmth, magic, and togetherness of Christmas, my absolute favorite time of year! To all of my helpers (Allen, Jon, Geoff and company, Mark McManemy, Bree, Lisa Jensen, Brandy and Eric & the Zimmerle family) who have given their time, talents, and helping hands, thank you; truly, from the bottom of my heart! And I cannot forget my awesome merchants, entertainment and food truck vendors who are committing their time and being willing to try something new to help make the festival extra magical! Farm Team Road Trip!

We rented a bus and took some of our team down to Grand Rapids for the Great Lakes Fruit & Vegetable Expo (GLEXPO).

It was a snowy day (really glad we had a professional bus driver!), and we had a great time learning new tools and ideas to improve the farm.

We rarely, and we mean, VERY rarely, have a chance to make things like this happen most times of the year, so it was especially good to have most of the Production Team in one place for the day.

Major thanks to the Market team and Culinary Team for keeping things running smoothly at the farm, and a huge shoutout to our friend and neighbor, Mr. Dave, for coming over to plow the driveway and parking lot in our absence!

Besides being the largest fruit and veg expo in the Midwest, GLEXPO is a great chance to see all of the latest and greatest tools and techniques to improve our operation. We found a lot of great ideas to implement, and we've made an extensive list for Santa :)

We've been very nice this year, so we're hoping Rudolph and Co. can swing some items by the farm in a few weeks ;) We promise Frick & Frack won't bother the reindeer or the sleigh!

And watch out BCOF customers! Most of our drive home was spent brainstorming how to improve the customer experience at BCOF, how to get better at growing more food, and how to increase our performance to deliver even great customer value.

We've been reflecting on the new ideas and changes (big and small) over the last 13 years that have gotten us to now, and looking ahead at what good ideas and improvements will get us through the next 13 years!

We're back on the farm today, harvesting ALL of the greens goodness, picking peppers, and getting ready for a wonderfully delicious weekend ahead!

I want to share a sincere thank you for our first monetary donation!!! Thank you to Lite 96.3 Petoskey/Traverse City Michigan, Sunset Premier Shuttle, Comfort Center Alanson, Mi Tequila Mexican Restaurant, and Johan's Pastry Shop! This $500 will go straight into building the infrastructure to start getting the property ready for animals, greenhouses, and the farm store to better serve our Veterans!
