Shorter term high resolution models have been honing on the areas along and south of Highway 60 for the highest probabilities of receiving heavy rainfall. The graphic shows the probability of seeing one of more inches of rainfall within 15 miles of any given location through 6 am tonight. As is always the case with thunderstorms amounts will vary greatly and not everyone within even the darker shaded areas will see an inch of rainfall, but some will and it could occur rather quickly which would lead to flooding in some low lying and poor drainage areas. Thunderstorms have already begun to fire across the northern Panhandle and they will continue to build south through this evening. In addition to the flood threat, some of these storms will become severe with moderate sized hail and damaging wind gusts being the main threats. The peak of the storms will be tonight between 7 pm and 3 am. So keep tabs on the weather if out enjoying the evening and don't drive into flood roadways if you encounter them.
