We don't want to be viral. We want to become a virus. We want our core values to become so ingrained within our own organization that there's no question as to who belongs on our ship and who needs to set sail with another outfit. We want SPPI to be synonymous with our key traits of integrity, honesty, transparency, compassion and responsibility; when our trucks roll onto a job site we hope people look at our group and think "they're doing something right. You can always count on them to take care of the job and their people."
When we came up with our five core values, we took a lot of time deciding on the five words we should strive to be every day. Here's the breakdown on why our five matter:
integrity - we do the right thing because it's the right thing to do
honesty - we work our full 10 hours, we adhere to safety, we follow the rules even when no one is watching
Transparency - if we make a mistake, we own up to it, if it's out of our wheelhouse we admit to it and help the customer find a better resource
Compassion - everyone is dealing with something whether it be a coworker dealing problems at home, or an engineer dealing with deadlines from the "higher ups", we should be considerate of what others are facing and work with them to make both our jobs easier
Responsibility - it is our responsibility to do all our jobs safely, efficiently, fully and honestly. It is our responsibility to provide our teammates with safe job sites, proper tools to do the job, adequate compensation, and treat them with respect.
These five words are minimal, but they say a whole lot. SPPI has gone through significant changes in the last couple of years. We've parted ways with some great people who unfortunately didn't agree with the core values we seek to uphold. It's been a big risk, but one that's paying off. Our team is more confident, more dependable, and our bottom line shows it. In a time where it seems construction is on shifting sands trying to find it's footing with a decrease in workforce and an increase in pay, I'm proud to say we're on the progressive track of moving forward.
