Northwestern Landfill To give information about the Landfill. Open M-F 7 a.m to 4 p.m. Sat 6 a.m. to noon

Freeday (WV residents only) for the first 516 pounds. to 2 p.m. of the month.

Weight over 516 pounds is customers resposiblity to pay difference. Freedays are the first Sat 6 a.m. Unless its a holiday like Jan. 1 and July 4th. Then its the second Sat. All loads must be tarped or secured with strapes or bunge cordes or a cargo net. Any un secured loads will be rejected and not aload to enter landfill to dump. t have a hard hat and vest or high visibility shirt or jacket on. The scale house will sell you a set for a fee if you don't bring your own. Cost is 42.05 a ton for WV residents. and 44.05 a ton for Ohio residents

WM trucks are running a day late and starting 2 hours later. They will get your trash if it's safe to do so. If not please hold your trash until your next pickup.

Public Notice

In order to comply with the Senate Bill 18 passed by the West Virginia Legislature in October of 1991, the following dates will be those when “free disposal” will be allowed at Northwestern Landfill for the citizens of West Virginia during the
2026 calendar year.

January Saturday (01/03/26)
February Saturday (02/07/26)
March Saturday (03/07/26)
April Saturday (04/04/26)
May Saturday (05/02/26)
June Saturday (06/06/26)
July Saturday (07/11/26) This is the second Saturday, landfill close on July 4th.
August Saturday (08/01/26)
September Saturday (09/05/26)
October Saturday (10/03/26)
November Saturday (11/07/26)
December Saturday (12/05/26)
January 2027 Saturday (01/02/27)

Restrictions:
This is for W.V. residential waste customers only, no commercial, construction or industrial waste customers will be allowed free disposal on these days or any days of operation.

You must show proof of residence for the State of West Virginia.

W.V. residents are allowed up to 516 pounds free on one trip per scheduled day. Any additional loads will pay full price.
Loads over 516 pounds will be charged regular gate rate and fees.

Example truck weighs in at 620 pounds, the first 516 pounds will be free the other 104 pounds the customer will be responsible to pay for it.

We emphasize that customers bring in appliances on this day. Any appliance containing Freon will be charged an additional $50.00 for cost of removing the Freon and preparing it for recycling. Any other appliance is free.

* Hours of operation for “Free Day” are from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Just off of Rt. 50, east of the I-77 Rt. 50 interchange in Wood County.

All load in open top trucks and or trailers must be either tarped down or strapped down to keep from losing waste along our state, county, and local roadways.

All customers must wear a hard hat and vest or (high vis) shirt or jacket on the working face.
If you don’t have your own, the scale house has hard hats and vests available for purchase.

We are open to the public, and we are enforcing that you have your own hard hats and vests.
This will help stop the spread of germs and any viruses that are going on.

If you don't have a set you will be offered to buy a set for $20.00 each or you may leave to buy a set from somewhere else.
