We took a Cajun Pride Swamp Tour, where we learned about how alligators grow. Him right there, is about, I don't know about a six foot long alligator? 5 or 6 foot? Well, maybe not quite that big. Well, if he's about 5-6 foot, I would say, he's about 5-6 years old. So for the first eight years of an alligator's life, they grow about a foot every single year. And then, once they get up to eight foot, they don't stop growing. They just start to grow slowly, or they grow unpredictable. So they might grow an inch a year, but they might grow a foot-a-half.
You see what I'm saying? But if you look at him right there, he looks like he's close to about 5 foot long. He should be close to about 5 years old. But just to let y'all know, alligator, they do have an average lifespan. About 40-50 years old.
