I knew all along what boat it is.
1982 American skier Volante.
The boat has been in our possession since 1988. It has been through hell and back, as well traveled through nearly all 50 states including Puerto Rico.
The little kid in the first photo is the same person sitting on the fender in the second photo.

One must be truly talented to address the shortcomings of boat manufacturers. This is a backing plate from the rudder port of a 2014 ski 200 by Nautique Boats. It was easily replaced with a custom fabricated stainless steel backing plate... but thats not really the story here where the saga starts is that in the original instalation a device called a grease whip was installed.. well it did not get installed towards the front of the port... yep screwed in from the back..... out comes the fuel tank!! Hey Nautique! Here's your sign!!
