The Manatee County Port Authority welcomed Cristiano Berbert, deputy consul general of Brazil in Miami, on Thursday to highlight the important role the port plays in moving cargo from Brazil into Florida and beyond.

SeaPort Manatee serves as a key gateway for Brazilian imports, including orange juice, wood pulp and lumber. In the first half of 2026, $357 million in cargo from Brazil moved through the port, strengthening Manatee County’s role in international trade and global supply chains.

SeaPort Manatee Executive Director Carlos Buqueras was honored to speak at the July 2026 Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance Luncheon, Connecting Commerce: The Impact of SRQ Airport and SeaPort Manatee on Our Community, featuring, special guest Manatee County Port Authority Chairman Mike Rahn.

The luncheon highlighted how SeaPort Manatee and Sarasota Bradenton International Airport serve as vital economic engines for our region connecting businesses to global markets, attracting investment, supporting thousands of jobs, and strengthening the economic competitiveness of our community.
