Today I had to part ways with a carrier. They’re good people — no names, no trashing — but the working relationship became unhealthy. Constant calls. Constant “advice.” Over-the-top micromanagement. Multiple phones ringing if I didn’t answer immediately. It drained energy that should’ve been going into driving, bidding, and doing the job right.

Ironically, the rule was “bid or pass.” But when I passed, I was pressured to explain. When I explained, it turned into debate. When I wanted it cut-and-dry, it never was.

Today was already a hard day personally. There was a death in the family, and I needed space to handle business and life without being pulled in ten directions.

Most carriers I work with keep it simple: You want the load? Here’s the bid. Yes or no. A couple check-ins for ETA. That’s it.

That’s how it should be. I didn’t want to walk away — but protecting your time, focus, and mental bandwidth matters. Sometimes the right move isn’t personal… it’s necessary. On to the next load. Forward always.
