Lake Powell Update July 9th. Please hit the like button so others are more likely to see this post.
The weather last week was very good. A couple of windy evenings, & one windy day. The air temperature got into the 100s yesterday, & was close for the rest of last week. Water temperatures are in the 78°F-85°F range & in most places the water is more than warm enough for swimming.
Weather this coming week is predicted to be very good 😊 👍.
Fishing is still doing good. I have seen several anglers catching fish, & heard of decent catches.
Lake Powell has begun receding again. It started receding on the 4th. We are still 17ft above the lowest Lake Powell was this year.
Very little to no incidents to report. Only thing I heard of was a few breakdowns, & flooding. One conversation I overheard on the CB radio ended with NPS telling a houseboat to cut the line for a sinking boat that was being towed behind a houseboat. Whether it sank or not is unknown. Overall a rather piece full week as far as I have been able to gather.
Lake traffic is still busy but noticeably down from the 4th.
The old Wahweap Launch & new swim area are doing wonderful, & definitely getting a bit of use. Here's a link to the video I did of that. https://youtu.be/LYmEEmoXQ_o
Business & traffic is noticeably down this year. I have ran across several folks that have told me that their friends & family did not come this year because they thought the lake was too low for boating. I made a video to dispel the rumors that Lake Powell is dry. Here's the link to that one https://youtu.be/itnPnLS5Kv4 it has been nice having the reduced traffic, but I have to remind myself & everyone else that most the folks in Page & the surrounding communities that make Lake Powell able to accommodate so many of us that tourism is what puts bread on their tables, & out here it either tourism or poverty. I appreciate any help you can provide in this area.
