Some airplanes carry passengers. Some carry stories. ✈️

This weekend, the DC-3 Mainliner was proud to be part of Wings Over Camarillo’s celebration of 90 years of the Douglas DC-3.
One of the weekend’s most meaningful moments was seeing the DC-3 Mainliner take to the skies alongside the P-51 Mustang “Plum Crazy” for a special tribute flight to aviation legend Clay Lacy — bringing two aircraft with such an important connection to his legacy together once again.

Beyond the flying, we loved meeting so many members of the aviation community, sharing stories, and welcoming friends aboard the DC-3 Mainliner. Seeing visitors experience this historic aircraft firsthand reminded us why preserving and sharing aviation history matters.

A special thank you to California Aeronautical University for operating the DC-3 Mainliner and helping keep this piece of aviation history flying. From sharing its story with the community to giving the next generation of aviators a chance to experience it firsthand, CAU is helping inspire the pilots of tomorrow.

✈️ Join us this weekend at Wings Over Camarillo as we celebrate 90 years of the Douglas DC-3, the aircraft that helped change the world.

In a special tribute to aviation legend Clay Lacy, the DC-3 Mainliner will fly alongside the iconic P-51 Mustang, Plum Crazy.

Both aircraft were owned and flown by Clay for many years and represent different chapters of his extraordinary aviation career. Together, they honor a legacy of preservation, innovation, and a lifelong passion for flight.

Today, the DC-3 Mainliner is cared for by owner Matt Johnston and operated by California Aeronautical University, where it serves as a flying ambassador for aviation history and education, inspiring future generations through the story of flight.

Visit the DC-3 Mainliner on static display throughout the weekend and experience a living piece of aviation history.

This historic DC-3 is starting its next chapter✈️——📍

The Mainliner O’Connor, a 1945 Douglas DC-3, beautifully restored by Clay Lacy, has departed from its longstanding home in Van Nuys to begin a new era in Oxnard.

Now owned by DC3 Mainliner LLC, operated by California Aeronautical University, and housed at Axis Air, this aircraft will continue to inspire and educate the next generation of aviation enthusiasts.
