Happy First Anniversary to my beautiful wife, .
Had lunch with my cousin Greg Johnson at in Florence SC.
Lucinda learned some stories about our mothers and other siblings. Surprisingly she didn't run screaming. Lol
Busy day here at , had to wait on the street while a line of RVS checked in . Neighbors on both sides are from Florida and 3 on the left are from Central Florida including another Discovery. Got a nice paved spot right across from the dog park. Here until Sunday then back to the real world. Nice cool weather but not cold, supposed to rain here all weekend. Going to meet up with some friends from the Viking Ship Hermod cruise and my cousins and Uncle Randal. Should be a fun weekend and memories made.

Good morning everyone from Fayetteville RV Resort. 58° finally a bit warmer than the past few days. Nice park, if we had gotten in a bit earlier might have tried the hot tub. First pool still open since Creekfire last week.
Nicest site yet, pretty level and roomy, easy drive thru and exit. Meeting my cousin, Greg and Greta Johnson for lunch and real Sweet Tea in Florence on our way to Creekfire RV Resort in Savannah.

All settled in at Fayetteville RV Resort for the night
Long day driving today. Left a little bit late, then stuck in traffic on I95 for over an hour. Finally got here around 1730. We had planned to go to Fort Bragg and at least see where my beautiful bride, was born a few years ago.
By the time we got settled it was too late to order food.
Enjoying a little TV tonight for the first time since we left almost 2 weeks ago. Watching my Georgia Southern Eagles vs Southern Mississippi.. !!!!

Last night was awesome. We drove into Washington DC and saw the city and # monuments all lit up. I have not been back here since I ran the 1994 Marine Corps Marathon. Hard to believe it but it was the one that Oprah ran and yes she beat me..lol

I was so busy walking down the street looking at the buildings, I noticed these guys in dark suits with badges on their belt that I just assumed they were federal agents walking down the street. However, in the middle of them was HHS Secretary
Lucinda Reed saw him and all I saw was the back of his head as they walked away. Talk about a missed opportunity to possibly meet someone who lived through some historical moments and also has a chance to change history for all of us.
Just like Gettysburg and other places we have been, we could spend days here seeing more of the history.
I am truly blessed to have her as my beautiful wife and thankful that she is in this journey of discovery. Next stop on Thursday, Fayetteville RV Resort

Shortest drive of the trip, only 80 miles but it took every bit of 2 hours. 2 lane roads and construction. Missed one of my exits as some person wouldn't let me over. Oops. Drove over the on a 2 lane bridge, with semi trucks passing the other way.
Nice view of some farmland and cows.
Heading out in a bit to drive to downtown DC and see the monuments at night. Can't wait.

The Confederate Army came close to winning the battle. If they had, would we still have 2 separate countries or would we be only one United States of America?
Most of the artillery here are the actual weapons. There are some replicas but not many. You can tell they are actual weapons if they have numbers and letters at the end of the barrel.
We also learned that President Kennedy was here to tour the battlefield in March, 1963 and was invited to speak here on the anniversary of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address on November 19. He had to decline because of an already planned trip to Dallas at the same time. How would history have changed if he had? I never knew this. Also, when President Kennedy was buried, Jackie asked for an eternal flame be lit at his grave in Arlington National Cemetery like the one here that commemorates the fallen soldiers in the
These are all things I never would have known unless we came here.
We started our Roaming with the Reeds to create memories and so far, we can say Mission Accomplished.

After wedding party today with Marc and Katie Bugge at , another Harvest Hosts. Checked out of Rocky Springs RV Park early so we could hang with the wedding party. Brian the manager of Libations said, park wherever we want and stay as long as we want. Gotta say that the 3 Harvest Hosts we have stayed at were just awesome. Highly recommend them, Haak Winery near Texas City, Chateau Le Coeur in DeFuniak Springs and here.

Day 4 of our Roam north to Mercer PA. Hills and mountains were all day. Did the diagnostic test on the transmission shifter, said OK but got a code that says ECM/PCM may not be communicating. Talked with Freightliner here and they may not work with Allison transmissions. Have to call back in the morning. Anyway we are all checked in and buttoned up, ready for a few days without moving the rig. That's gonna be nice. Met one of our new neighbors a bit ago, Rocky the Groundhog. Must be related to Punxatawny Phil..lol
Nice spot, no neighbors on the right and only a few on the left. Very quiet except for our hounds. Trying the washer and dryer tonight for the first time since we installed it. Wish us luck. Hopefully get to see Katie and Marc tomorrow before the wedding.
Thinking about a campfire tonight, once we make sure the washer and dryer works.
