🐦 Meet the **Dodo** — one of the most famous extinct birds in history.
The Dodo lived only on the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. It was a large flightless bird with a round body, strong legs, and a curved beak.
Unlike many birds, the Dodo **could not fly**. Instead, it moved by walking and running across the forest floor while feeding on fruits, seeds, and roots.
When humans arrived on the island in the late 1500s, hunting and animals brought by sailors destroyed their nests. Within less than a century, the Dodo disappeared forever.
