New Drops! The 82d’s deployment to Hormuz has been extended, so we made a special Remember Everyone Deployed shirt for JTF-82. We also added a couple SF Heritage designs and dropped the next wave of PSYOP designs, including DET 531.

There’s always that one guy… On 29 AUG 1940 the Parachute Test Platoon made its final qualifying jump, a mass-tac. The jump went as planned with one appropriately Airborne exception: PVT Leo Brown managed to land (uninjured) on the roof of the pack shed. First Airborne-qualified troops, first mass-tac, first ladder rescue - all in one sweaty Georgia summer day.

On 28 AUG 1942, Laurinburg-Maxton Army Air Base was established. Sitting 18 miles SE of Camp Mackall and 40 miles SW of Bragg, it created a vertical envelopment triangle that allowed C-47s, Waco gliders, and the Airborne to run joint-loading drills and massive mock invasions before starting their European and Pacific tours.

On 27 AUG 1950, the 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment was reorganized as the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team.
Two months later, Rakkasans made their first of two combat jumps of the Korean war.
Their success revitalized interest in airborne warfare and helped convince the Pentagon to reactivate XVIII Airborne Corps at Bragg. This was the second time the 187th helped save the Airborne, the first was the Knollwood Manuvers under the 11th Airborne Division just seven years earlier.

During the Korean War, the 187th Airborne dropped 3,400+ troops in Operation Tomahawk- but you, being an 80lb-sacked- paratrooper knew that. But dyk the (then) classified 8240th Army Unit led 20K+ guerrillas in a shadow war, helping lay the groundwork for SF?
