Why is a private equity firm involved in Sonex?
Meet Stephen Osborne (Ig: ), principal owner of ON Capital and managing member of the new Sonex Aviation.
Stephen is a husband, father of five, Army veteran, commercial general contractor, and lifelong aviation enthusiast. He served 15 years as an Infantry and Operations Officer, spent the last 11 years as a commercial general contractor and real estate developer, and currently owns and operates Top Aviation Services, a flight school in Topeka, Kansas. His construction firm, DF Osborne Construction, is heavily involved in electric car and electric airplane charging infrastructure across the country; building out the future of transportation in America.
Stephen is a commercial, instrument, and multi-engine rated pilot who flies a 1949 T-28 Trojan and a 1964 Piper Comanche 400. When not flying or ragebaiting people with AI airplanes, he spends time working on his Kansas farm and sends audition tapes in hopes to join American Idol.
Stephen’s vision for Sonex is focused on strengthening vendor partnerships, improving kit and parts lead times, building an exceptional customer and builder experience, and continuing development of the high wing and 2-place jet programs while listening closely to customer feedback.
