5 simple questions to ask on moving day

Moving can be stressful and on moving day there are so many things running through your mind that makes things even more stressful.

Here are a few questions you can ask your movers on or before moving day that might help relieve some of the stress.

1. How long do you estimate the move will take.
This is an important question to ask so you know what to expect on the day of the move. Movers don’t seem to have a good reputation when it comes to accurately given the best possible estimate when it comes to how long it will truly take. So once the movers have surveyed your home and taken a physical inventory is when they are able to give you the most accurate estimate.

2. Will there be additional cost?
Even though you do all you can to prepare yourself with all the information and estimates given to you by the movers. Sometimes additional cost may arise once the movers have done a walk through of your home the day of the move.

Common additional cost:
- [ ] Extra boxes, tape, and miscellaneous supplies
- [ ] Extra hours because it has taken longer then estimated
- [ ] Extra manpower because things maybe heavier than anticipated

All these this things would be noted once the movers have done a full walk through.

3. Are you capable of moving a home my size?
Moving a 5,000 square foot home is much different then moving a small one bedroom apartment and you could run into some challenges if your movers are not custom to moving such a larger home. Not to they would not be up for the challenge but just might take them longer to complete the move and that’s where your additional cost may come into play.

4. Can you disassemble and assemble beds and hook up washer/dryer connections?
These types of things could and can cause additional cost. Some moves are not equipped to handle such tasks.

That is why it is important to ask this question in advance so you are made aware of the capabilities of the movers

5. Is there any beverages I can get you and your team?
Moving is a daunting and labor intensive task and is done in all types of weather conditions.

A simple gesture as providing a cold or warm beverage for your moving team allows themes see that you understand and are aware of the nature of the business they are in.
