Put every screw, bolt, washer and mysterious little metal thing into a clear, labelled bag, then attach it securely to the furniture it belongs to.

Otherwise, six months from now, you’ll find an unidentified bolt in a drawer and spend the evening wondering which piece of furniture is quietly preparing to collapse!

Some things should stay with you: cash, documents, medicine, and valuables...

Other things should not travel in a moving box at all. If it can leak, burn, explode, spoil, or ruin the rest of your week, leave it out.

A quiet moving day is a good moving day.
