I published a new essay this morning about something RV life completely changed for me: my definition of home.

It starts with William learning to ride his bike in a Tennessee campground almost 5 years ago and somehow winds its way through Virginia, Florida, Texas, and all the little things that make a place feel like ours.

I think sometimes we confuse gratitude with obligation.

We tell ourselves that because something was good for us, we should keep choosing it forever.

But a season can matter deeply and still end.

We had one of those classic Florida downpours recently where everything went from bone dry to what I lovingly call our "ditch river" in about 5 minutes. 😂

Watching the ground soak up all that water got me thinking about the things that replenish us, and how sometimes we don't even realize how depleted we are until we finally get a little relief.
