Most U.S.-registered airline flights to and from parts of the Caribbean are temporarily canceled or paused due to an FAA airspace advisory (NOTAM). This is not an airport shutdown, but a safety-related restriction affecting certain routes.

✈️ BIG Travel Update from MCO

Orlando International Airport (MCO) just dropped some exciting news! For the first time ever, there will be nonstop flights between Orlando and Tokyo starting in February 2026. The trip will be operated by ZIPAIR Tokyo, with four round-trip charters currently scheduled.

If you’ve ever thought about seeing cherry blossoms in spring, diving into Tokyo nightlife, or mixing Disney magic with sushi + ramen, this could be the perfect chance 🙌

✈️ Heads up for upcoming flights

Starting February 1, 2026, if you arrive at the airport without a REAL ID–compliant license (or another TSA-approved ID like a passport), you will still be able to fly but you will need to pay a $45 fee for the TSA identity-verification process. This fee covers a 10-day period for identity verification.

Here’s what to know

• A REAL ID-compliant license or a valid passport will let you skip the fee entirely
• If your ID is not compliant, it’s a good idea to plan ahead and update it before any 2026 travel
• If you think you might fly without REAL ID after February, expect the extra $45 and allow more time at security

🚨 TRAVEL NEWS from Tequila Tina 🚨

Flight reductions to remain at 6% as the government reopens:

"Mere hours before the federal government reopened Wednesday, the Department of Transportation announced flight reductions will freeze at 6% thanks to strong staffing levels and a "rapid decline" in air traffic controller callouts.

The new emergency freezing order will scrap the previous plan to ramp up reductions to 10% by Friday, and will remain in place "as the FAA continues to assess whether the system can gradually return to normal operations," the Department of Transportation said."

Travel survival tips from your bikini-clad bestie:
✈️ Book a hotel in advance in a connecting city in case of delays or cancellations. 🛬 Look at flights to other bigger airports if your regional flights get canceled or severely delayed.
💸 If the airline offers a refund (which they are doing a lot of at the moment) and you’re flexible? Take it and run.
🚗 If it’s drivable within 12–15 hours, consider road-tripping. Cruise ships wait for no one.
📲 Make sure to have the airline app AND an app tracker like Flighty updated and all your flights plugged in so you get up to the minute changes and notifications. Knowledge = less panic-sprinting.
