Back in January, I was consulting a guy that wanted to get in the transportation business. He was looking at these overpriced used trucks for around the 100K to 120K range. I said: "Wait for the price to come down, eventually it will. The spot market will come be coming down soon, and fuel is about to rise."
Today he calls me. He said "you were totally right and I apologize for not listening". He bought a used truck when I told him not to. Paid $116K, no warranty, the truck had 500K miles. The DEF sensor broke, the filter needed to be changed, and the pump was creating a vacuum which led to a whole host of problems.
He's looking at another $16K in repairs, 2 months downtime so far. Plus no money to pay for repairs unless he gets a high interest repair loan. Lesson learned, this is why you pay for an experienced consultant. Now he wants me to perform miracles. I got advice for him he may not like but he will be back in business.
