If at first you don't succeed, put on dry clothes and try again! My first foray into the kayak from the boat ended in a salt water bath, but after figuring out that you have to step in the MIDDLE, not the edge, I managed to get into the kayak and explore Silver Lake with our sailing crew.

Back on the water with ALL of the toys. Kayak, bicycles, fishing poles, and beach gear are onboard as we sail out to Ocracoke. We'll be meeting up with 30 boats from our local club, the Neuse Sailing Association, for the annual Memorial Day cruise.

A huge pod of dolphins joined us at the midpoint of our journey off South Carolina. Rich says there were 30, my inner child was sure there were 100, but whatever the true number there were a ton of them! They swam around the boat for an hour, surfing waves, jumping out of the water, crisscrossing from side to side. And the water was crystal clear sapphire blue. It was a truly magnificent sight!

We're home! Sapelo Island to Oriental in three days. We came into Beaufort, NC at sunset and then made our way up the ICW on a rising tide with the help of our trusty spotlight to avoid crab traps. More reflection to come after some solid zzzzzzz 😴

It's hard to capture the movement of the boat by filming the waves. But the moon does a pretty good job of illustrating how wind +waves + swell can move you around in all directions! Weeeee, look at it go!
