Some railroads don’t just run through the country… they run through your blood.

Over the last stretch, our teammates put 38,000 ties in the ground across 38 miles on the old 3 Notch line, from Georgiana to Andalusia, Alabama. That line ties right back into the CSX M&M territory I worked for years and Royal Patterson spent years on the 3 Notch as well so watching this one come back to life meant something extra.

This line’s been quiet since 2024. No horns. No wheels. Just rust, weeds, and folks wondering if trains would ever roll again.

Well… today they did.

First engines down the rail this morning, and they didn’t show up because of talk or titles. They showed up because a group of railroaders went to work and flat handled business.

New ties.
Surfacing.
Bridge repairs.
Crossings rebuilt.
Miles and miles of sweat and pride.

Day in, day out. No shortcuts. No excuses. Just the kind of work that brings a railroad back from the dead.

Proud to stand behind a team that shows up, shows out, and leaves iron better than they found it and thank you Pinsly Railroad Company for giving us a shot!

Coffee got abandoned.
White Ford stallions and Peterbilts got fired up.

HG Railroad Services' emergency division answered the call and rode straight into the chaos like it was last call at an all-you-can-eat buffet and a college football team heard the food was still hot.

These cowboys don’t wait on daylight, dry ground, or perfect conditions. They just point the trucks toward the problem and get after it. Mud on the boots, sweat on the brow, solutions in hand.

Ain’t nothing pretty about emergency work, but it sure is impressive watching pros make a mess behave.

Blaine Durbin and the HG Railroad Services north division spent the week cleaning up a tent city along the railroad that just kept growing the more they removed.

This wasn’t about pointing fingers or looking down on anyone. It was about doing the right thing, making the railroad safer, the community cleaner, and treating folks with dignity along the way.

Railroads don’t run on excuses. They run on accountability, hard work, and neighbors looking out for one another. These men rolled up their sleeves, handled it the right way, and left it better than they found it.

That’s how they were raised.
See a problem. Take ownership. Fix it. All in.

Proud of these teams for showing up, working hard, and carrying themselves the right way. That still matters where they come from.
