This week, we're also inviting everyone to wear pink to the Y to show their support and raise awareness.

Happy National Youth Sports Week! 🏀🏈⚽

10 boys from the YMCA Thunder Youth Basketball League celebrated the occasion in a special way — playing on the court at halftime of the Thunder game on Wednesday. It was an unforgettable night for the young players, pushing them to dream big, build confidence, and see what's possible.

That’s what sports are all about, and the Y is committed to creating opportunities for every child to learn, grow and discover their potential on and off the court or field.

There’s still a few days left of National Youth Sports Week, so get out this weekend, grab your friends and family and play your favorite sport!

Last Monday, we had a beautiful day on the course for our 28th Annual YMCA Golf Classic! From great swings and plenty of laughs to a little friendly competition, it was a fun day from start to finish.

A huge thank you to all of our players and sponsors for showing up and making this tournament such a great event. We're especially grateful to our Presenting Sponsor, Jackson Streets MEP Contractors, Inc., for their incredible support of our event.

We're so thankful for everyone who helped make this Golf Classic one to remember. Until next year! ⛳

Join us for our Healthy Aging Open House tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mitch Park YMCA!

All ages trip and/or fall. BUT, if we are at higher risk of injury, especially severe injury (risk goes up as we get older), we deserve to know there are things we can do to reduce this risk so that we are less terrified of falling. When we are so fearful of falling our world can shrink quickly, and ironically, put us at higher risk because we may move less, and therefore, lose strength, coordination, balance, social connections, and confidence in the process.

September is Fall Prevention Month. If you live in the greater OKC area, below is a great and FREE opportunity to learn/share information and tour the fabulous Mitch Park YMCA.

If you live outside of this area, check with your local library + newspaper/radio, multi-sector plan on aging organizer (about 1/2 of states have this and more are coming on board all the time), senior center (often for ages 50+), YMCAs, and Area Agency on Aging for events.

We don't know what we don't know, but we do absolutely deserve to know how we can most safely go about living our lives.

In the 1980s we learned how important seat belts were to letting us more safely go about living life, sometime later we learned the same with bike helmets. Let's apply the same approach to preventing falls and fall injury when and where we can🩵

AgeFULLY,
Alisa

Every child deserves a place to learn, grow and belong. Our capital campaign is expanding access to high-quality childcare so more families can find the support they need and more children can thrive in a safe, nurturing environment.

We’re building more than new spaces. We’re creating opportunities that will strengthen our communities for generations to come.

We are incredibly grateful to the PSO Foundation for their generous support of our capital campaign and the future Weatherford Community Center! 🫶

This investment will help us bring our vision for a new YMCA and Community Center to life, which will create greater access to youth development, healthy living, water safety, childcare, and vital resources for families throughout western Oklahoma.

Thank you, PSO Foundation, for believing in our mission and investing in a healthier, stronger future for the Weatherford community.

What a great moment at the YMCA Military Welcome Center! Our one and only Mrs. Carolyn went above and beyond to assist this young lady as she prepares to head to Spain for a semester of school. 🇪🇸

It’s moments like these that remind us just how special our volunteers are and the difference they make for the people who walk through our doors. Safe travels and best wishes on an amazing adventure in Spain! ❤️🤍💙

Today, we had the incredible honor of welcoming a 103-year-old World War II veteran to the YMCA Military Welcome Center.

We asked all of our recruits to stand and recognize him with a well-deserved round of applause. It was a powerful moment—one generation of service members honoring another who answered the call more than 80 years ago.

103 years young and still inspiring the next generation. 🇺🇸

It was truly an honor to have him with us today.

Today we thank these two young women for their dedication to service and their decision to join the United States Marine Corps. We appreciate you choosing the Oklahoma City YMCA Military Welcome Center.

We were honored to welcome the South Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, including members of the Chamber’s TEAM South leadership program, to the YMCA Military Welcome Center this week!

It was a privilege to share our mission and give them a look inside what we like to call a “living room inside the airport” — a place where service members, veterans, and their families can rest, recharge, and feel appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and learn more about the impact being made every day. We appreciate your support of our military community here in Oklahoma!
