Winterizing your boat before storing it for the season is essential for preserving its condition and preventing costly repairs. Here’s a step-by-step guide to ensure proper winterization:

1. Clean the Boat
Exterior: Wash the boat thoroughly to remove dirt, grime, and salt residue. Pay special attention to the hull, deck, and any crevices.
Interior: Clean the interior, including cushions, lockers, and storage compartments. Remove any food or items that could attract pests.
Dry it out: Make sure the boat is completely dry before storage to prevent mold and mildew.

2. Drain and Flush the Engine
Flush the cooling system: Use fresh water to flush out the salt, dirt, and debris from the engine.
Drain water: Drain all water from the engine to prevent it from freezing and causing damage.
Add antifreeze: Pour non-toxic marine antifreeze into the cooling system to protect it from freezing temperatures.
