This past Friday night, June 5th, I got the opportunity to stay at Lucille’s Hotel in Weatherford. A hotel named after the Mother of The Mother Road, Lucille Hammons. For dinner that night I went next door to Lucille’s Roadhouse. Both experiences were great! 🙏🏻❤️

I stopped in Glen Rio, TX on April 15, 2026 and then again on June 3, 2026 and was so excited to see the old sign has been fixed up. My understanding is that coming up soon they are relighting it as well. That’s awesome! 🎉

I’m hitting the Mother Road tomorrow, headed west outta Oklahoma City. Over the next few days I’ll get as far as Santa Rosa, NM before I have to turn back. I’m looking forward to it all, but especially my day/night in Tucumcari. I’m a month shy of 3 years since my last visit so I can’t wait to see it again. I had a great time talking with Jason as part of the Route 66 Americana Archive. I look forward to joining him on location a few times over the next couple months out on the Mother Road.
