Little bit of a different distress call today. Dive team Striker came upon a loggerhead turtle in distress off Ocean City. The turtle was flailing its flippers, had issues swimming, couldn’t dive down, and had a massive amount of barnacles all over. A boat strike had caused a crack in his shell making it difficult to survive. With the help of Rick Younger, Mark Holder, TowBoatU.S. Ocean City and the Baltimore National Aquarium, this turtle may have been given a second chance and is currently receiving treatment. Just a small reminder to always be on the lookout for sea life!

If you see a stranded or injured sea turtle or marine mammal, please call the National Aquarium Stranding Response 24-hour Stranding Hotline at 410-576-3880.
