Some before and after pictures of our new runway at DeLaurentis International Airport. It went from 25 feet wide with incorrect striping and lights to 60 feet wide and now meets all the FAA requirements for the RNAV GPS 07 Approach with the exception of a couple Hold short lines. We hope to complete in the next week or two.
The runway has the highest asphalt paving index in the state of Washington even better than Seatac at 99%
Many thanks to our FAA representative who designed this striping and lighting plan. David also submitted a request for a second Instrument approach on the 25 side. Navigating the complex rules and regulations would’ve been impossible without him.
Many thanks to Island Electric who installed the 10 additional lights and has done a masterful job striping our runway. Jeff and his team are amazing and we are so lucky to have them!
In the process of completing this project that didn’t cost the state, the feds, the port, the city or the county a penny, we added 12,000,000 pounds of gravel, 5000 tons of asphalt and completed engineering studies, compaction studies, biological site assessments, permits, wetland studies, and drainage reports to make this project a reality.
It’s been very complicated and expensive, but we’re so happy with the results we’ve achieved with the help of our generous sponsors and the DeLaurentis Foundation.
