A Note from Captain Ed

As we head into 2026, I have some news.

I’m no longer offering a full menu of charters.
Island Time has been sold. In its place is a smaller, more personal vessel, on which I’ll continue to host couples or individual guests on a limited basis — for those who value simplicity, quiet, and being present on the water, without the pull of itineraries or phones.

My love for introducing guests to naturism and the sense of freedom it affords, through time spent at Moshup Beach & the Gay Head Cliffs, will remain my primary focus moving forward, said trips offered by inquiry.

For 25 years, MV Leisure Charters has been part of countless Vineyard summers — unhurried days, familiar faces alongside new ones, and time on the water that gave people a genuine sense of the island to carry home with them, something that can’t be bought in a store.

I’ve loved every moment of helping people make memories that last a lifetime. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey.

For some, this is a goodbye and a thank you.
For others, it’s simply the next chapter.

Friends, a chapter is turning—and it's time to pass the torch.

After more than two decades of sharing the waters of Martha’s Vineyard with so many of you, I’ve decided to step back from the charter business. It’s been an incredible journey—one filled with calm seas, unforgettable sunsets, and meaningful conversations with guests who became friends.

I’ll still be around the island, and I may still run the occasional trip—but the time has come to pass this special little business on to someone new.

So I’m putting the charter business up for sale—along with the boat itself and a creative side brand I never fully launched. I’m hoping to find the right person (or couple) to carry it forward.

Some News for 2025

Dear Customers and Friends of MV Boat,

Summer is here and in soon will be in full swing.

After nearly 25 years of making memories and taking happy clients out on the island’s waters, I find myself needing to take a step back this season—and possibly next. I’ll be slowing things down to recover from 2 recent surgeries and to make space for reflection.

As a result, I won’t be running a full charter schedule this year.

Priority this season will go to
A) Legacy clients—those of you who’ve supported this work over the years—and to
B) First-time clothing-optional trips, which have always been near the heart of this adventure. Introducing couples to the naturist lifestyle in a respectful, grounded way was one of my original goals, and that spirit still matters to me.

I’m also quietly exploring whether someone else might want to help carry this forward. If you know a licensed captain who may be interested in assisting or apprenticing with an eye toward the future, feel free to send them my way.

When I started this adventure 24 seasons ago, we were the only power boat offering private day sails. True pioneers! Today, there’s healthy competition—and honestly, I’m delighted to see that the idea has flourished. Imitation, as they say, is the sincerest form of flattery.

This was never about raking in money—it was always about helping people slow down, reconnect, and enjoy the quiet magic of the water. It still is. I just need to scale back for now.

Sometimes we have great adventures with extra special memories. I was so happy to be able to help this family fulfill a lifelong dream. They have a photo of their granddad from 50 or 60 years ago taken on Cuttyhunk. He is gone now, but they wanted to find the spot where this picture was taken, and I was happy to show them.
