The most important stop you can make is for a school bus.

Behind every flashing red light and extended STOP arm are students counting on motorists to protect them.

This National School Bus Safety Week, Benjamin Bus and NASDPTS reminds drivers: stop illegal passing. Protect students.

Slow down and prepare to stop when yellow warning lights flash.
Stop when red lights flash and the STOP arm extends.
Stay alert for students boarding, exiting, or crossing.
Remain stopped until the red lights stop flashing, the STOP arm retracts, and the bus begins moving. Know and follow your state’s school bus stopping laws.

Safety Starts with Our Drivers & Aides—and Every Transportation Professional Behind the Scenes!

As we begin National School Bus Safety Week, October 19–23, 2026, Benjamin Bus and NASDPTS celebrates the dedicated people who help keep students safe each and every day.

Our drivers and aides provide attentive care on every ride. Behind the scenes, dispatchers coordinate routes and communication, maintenance staff keep buses ready for safe service, office staff support daily operations, and supervisors and directors lead teams with safety at the center.

🚌 NATIONAL SCHOOL BUS SAFETY WEEK IS NEXT WEEK! 🚌

⚠️ 34 STOP ARM VIOLATIONS. And every single one is a risk to a child.

As of October 14, Benjamin Bus has recorded 34 instances of motorists illegally passing a school bus while its stop arm is extended and red lights are flashing. That’s 34 times a child’s safety has been put at risk.

🚨 Minnesota law requires motorists to stop when a school bus has its red lights flashing. These lights mean children are loading, unloading, or crossing the road. Passing a stopped school bus could mean striking a child.

We urge all motorists to stay alert and watch for school buses, especially during the morning and afternoon school commute. Slow down, pay attention, and be prepared to stop.

A few seconds saved are never worth a child’s life.

Flashing RED lights mean STOP!

Yellow lights are your warning that the bus is coming to a stop. Once the driver activates the flashing red lights, students are entering or exiting the bus.

When you see a school bus: Slow down, prepare to stop, and STAY STOPPED until the flashing red lights are deactivated.

Every stop matters. Every child matters. 💛
