Treated my nephew to his first game for his birthday. He’s a fan so KC was our closest opportunity to see his favorite player . Of course in KC we hit up bbq, locals recommended Joes BBQ and it was great. The Kaufman Stadium has their hall of fame out over left field and we hit that up. I educated him some on baseball history and George Brett. Fun little trip but I HATE losing! Braves are still my team but I was a Royal fan at the game and the Yankees won 15-1 🤦‍♂️. So, I did my pushups to pay my debt 💪.

Got several comments about my “ranch car” so here’s another reel of it working.

Had to tag and vax a couple calves today. Moms got grumpy. The long horn was swinging at me with those big bats. Then the white cow I can pet her til she has a calf. She ran me on the back of the pickup last year. Was in my ranch car this year so I did what I needed to do.

Longhorn lookin good. Ready for her to have her baby.

Part 2 of my seminars to the college kids was tonight. A presentation I call “Life After Rodeo”. It’s a personal experience tutorial of how to set yourself up to rodeo as a professional. But more importantly how to set yourself up for when you’re done. We dive into topics like taxes as a self employed contract laborer, operating capital, investments, traveling on a budget, and account structures for being a business. I really enjoy being able to give back to these kids and hopefully they take my experience and can find some use in it.

I’m chaperone and bus driver for the State FBLA trip in Kearney. This guy was one of Cynthia’s students when she taught in North Platte. He too is another great guy I’ve gotten to know and stayed in touch with. He perused an MMA career and still trains and coaches some. But like bull riding age does creep up on ya lol. He’s 33 now and shifted gears to become a barber. He’s in haircut college here in Kearney and I had a minute so I hit him up for a fresh fade. Had a great visit and a stand up dude! Thanks for the cut Delfino 😊

This guy is awesome! His name is Hector, a waiter. He used to live in North Platte and worked at our favorite Mexican restaurant. We’re in Kearney and went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner and we get seated. He comes around the corner to his next table, us. When he sees us he got a huge smile and asked about how we’ve been, how the kids are and where they’re at, and what we’ve been up to. Haven’t seen him in a few years and remembers us. Hector is an awesome guy!

I drove roughly 11,000 miles this year to watch Ethan wrestle and tonight we attended the SCC Wrestling year end banquet. Proud of Ethan on the honors received. Based on his grades he earned Academic All-American. But then we were surprised with Teammate Of The Year. This was voted on by the coaches for always pushing his team to be better and having the qualities of a leader and as it states on his award, lead by example. The wins on the mat are awesome, leadership is a lifelong trait. Keep up the good work kid! Looking forward to next year.

I was honored to be the speaker last night at the Mid-Plains Community College Rodeo Team banquet. In 2013 I was asked to help as their “advisor” had just left. There were 6 kids in the “club” at the time and only 4 competed. I’m wired that if I’m in it’s 110%! My message last night was about PASSION. In everything you do it should be with passion if you want success. I was passionate about riding bulls and found success. I was passionate about coaching the rodeo team and found success as well. Getting the club shifted into the athletic program. Obtaining scholarships to recruit talent. Was able to team up with the late Garrett Nokes, 2005 NFR bulldogger and perennial top 25 calf roper, as my timed event coach. The team then started winning. We won team regional titles and there were individual event titles as well. An opportunity to be my son’s wrestling coach came to me and my family is number 1. I asked Ethan if he wanted me as his head coach and with no hesitation he said yes.

I stepped down from the rodeo position and Aukai Kaai filled my position. And that passion was elevated yet again. Aukai has made this team a perennial powerhouse in the college rodeo world. His teams have shattered records both regionally and nationally. 2025 one of his bull riders, Trace Scarlavai, became Mid Plains Community College’s first ever National Champion for any of their sports. And yet the future is looking even brighter.

Success is measured individually. One persons definition of success is different than another’s.

So I left them with this message:
“No matter if you’re young or old, to find YOUR success it takes passion. Find that passion in everything you do and go kick its ass!”
