🎣 Myrtle Beach Fishing Report – Weekly Update
From Captain Keith Logan & North Myrtle Beach Fishing Charters
Fishing around the Grand Strand has continued to improve over the past week as water temperatures stabilize and more bait moves into the area. We’ve been seeing good action across inshore, nearshore, shark fishing, deep sea, and Gulf Stream trips with a solid variety of species showing up.
🔹 Inshore Fishing Report
The inshore bite has been very consistent around the creeks, marshes, and ICW near North Myrtle Beach and Little River. Redfish, speckled trout, flounder, and black drum have all been active this week. Live shrimp, mud minnows, and soft plastics have been producing the best results, especially around oyster beds, docks, and moving water near creek mouths.
The flounder bite continues to improve with several quality fish being caught on recent trips. Early morning trout fishing has also been productive around deeper holes and current edges.
🔹 Nearshore Fishing Report
Nearshore reefs and wrecks have been holding good numbers of Spanish mackerel, bluefish, black sea bass, and the occasional cobia. Trolling Clark spoons and live bait around the reefs has been productive when weather conditions allow boats to get offshore comfortably.
Water clarity has improved this week, and bait activity has increased along the beaches and reef structures. Expect the nearshore bite to continue getting better heading into June.
🔹 Shark Fishing Report
Shark fishing has been strong along the beaches and around nearshore structure. We’ve been catching a mix of blacktip sharks, spinner sharks, bonnetheads, and sandbar sharks on fresh cut bait. Warmer water temperatures are bringing more sharks close to shore, and evening trips have produced some exciting action lately.
These trips continue to be a favorite for families and groups looking for hard-fighting fish and memorable photos.
🔹 Deep Sea Fishing Report
Offshore bottom fishing has been productive when sea conditions cooperate. Anglers have been catching grouper, snapper, triggerfish, black sea bass, and amberjack on deeper structure. Live bait and cut bait have both been working well over ledges and wrecks.
The offshore bite should continue improving as water temperatures warm further and more migratory species move into the area.
🔹 Gulf Stream Fishing Report
The Gulf Stream bite has started heating up with mahi-mahi showing up in better numbers along with blackfin tuna and wahoo opportunities. Trolling w**d lines and temperature breaks has been producing action, while bottom fishing offshore has also remained productive.
As we move deeper into late spring and early summer, Gulf Stream fishing should continue improving week by week.
If you’re planning a Myrtle Beach fishing trip, now is a great time to get on the water before peak summer crowds arrive.
