🌸 Did you know Alaska is home to the final American peony harvest of the year?

While peony season has ended across much of the country, Alaska’s long summer days and cool climate allow growers to harvest fresh peonies throughout July and August. Those blooms are then shipped to wholesalers, florists and consumers across the Lower 48, extending the availability of American Grown peonies well into summer … and sometimes into early September.

A few fun facts:
🌿 Alaska is home to more than 200 commercial peony farms.
🚜 Most farms are concentrated around Homer, the Kenai Peninsula, the Matanuska-Susitna Valley and the Fairbanks area.
☀️ Thanks to Alaska’s long daylight hours and cool temperatures, peonies bloom weeks later than they do in most other growing regions in the U.S.
📦 This unique harvest helps extend the season for American grown peonies and supports flower lovers across the country.

It’s a wonderful reminder that flower seasonality doesn’t end, it simply moves across the country, creating opportunities to support America’s growers 12 months a year.

Our season is coming along and now the Sarah Bernhardt’s are almost ready to harvest! We squeeze them just to be sure.
But we don’t squeeze the bees 🐝
The baby bumblebees also rest on the flowers. Next time I see one, will get a video of them just because they are cute and not fierce looking like this Yellowjacket.
