Who am I? To start my name is Jewel and I'm a former truck driver with over 15 years of over the road experience and a clean driving record. We have a very small hobby farm with 9 dogs, 7 cats, 2 cockatiels, 2 quail, 2 drakes, 1 wacky rooster, and 9 hens. When we moved to SW MO from SO Cal we sold our 4 goats to a 4-H family.
Our name... When our first doe kidded for the first time we needed a farm name to put on their registration paperwork and we come up with numerous names but none really sounded right, we wanted the name of our Farm to not only work with our goats but also with our other hobbies which include wine & beer making. So Cuds is in reference to our goats and Suds to our beer and wine.
What do I do? Most simply, I pick up your animals and transport them to their destination. How I begin a route is a little harder to explain. I usually will not have an exact location that I am going to travel to. I will put out a notice that I am taking request for travel and then let the need of my riders dictate where the route will go. My routes generally start with a single request and snowball from there. A simple request for a pick up in Southern California going to Texas can translate to over 20 animals getting to their new homes that are in several different states.
What fur babies can I transport?
*Currently I am limited to the space on my vehicle. I very recently acquired a New Kia Soul. It holds fewer and smaller animals than my cargo van but the Kia has a few advantages over the cargo van. The temperature can be better controlled. The summer and winter can be deadly if your animals are being transported in a trailer or the back of a pick up truck ( or the cargo hold of commercial airlines). Fuel costs are one of my highest costs and the Soul cuts those costs so I can keep my prices affordable. *
So what animals do I transport? I mainly transport goats (dairy) but have in the past moved dogs, cats, sheep, pigs, and a calf. I have several kennels on my vehicle and the configuration of the kennels can easily be changed to fit the need of my passengers.
The kennels I have are:
36L: which will comfortably fit (2) 3 month old Mini Nubians OR 1 Adult Nigerian,
30L: (1) 4 week old Mini Nubian OR (2) 3 month old Nigerian Dwarf OR (3) 8 week old Nigerian Dwarf OR If will work for a 3 month old Mini Nubian but only for less than 12 hours.
24L: (2) 8 week old Nigerian Dwarf
How many of each can my vehicle hold?
(1) 36L - (2) 30L - (1) 24L OR
(2) 36L - (1) 24L OR
(3) 24L - (2) 30L
How much do I charge? There are several factors that are considered when giving you a price quote: what kind and size of animal do you need moved, how many miles they are going, and can the trip be combined with someone going in the same direction to help with the expenses. My prices start at $100 and have gone as high as $1500 for 4 dogs and 4 cats being moved from SoCal to the east coast. The average cost is $300.
How often will I put a route together? Currently I am looking to put a route together if not every month then every other month. I purchased my Soul specifically to help people move their animals.
How to contact me? You can message me through the Cuds N' Suds page, my Personal page Jewel Wescott, email (not the best), or text or call and leave a message on my cell phone 630-303-8933.
Transportation out of the United States to Canada (sorry I can not go to Mexico, my insurance will not cover me)? It is possible, I do possess a valid US Passport, but I have not looked into the regulations and customs of importing and transporting out of the U.S. I am willing to meet at your nearest border crossing or if you can help me through the process I'm willing to give it a go :-)
Last but not least... Health Certificates???? Do I need them??? Some animals do require a Health Certificate to travel between states. Cats & Dogs require at the very least shot records to travel. I am going through the process of being registered with the USDA (required to move certain types of animals throughout the US) and all of the animals will need to have whatever paperwork is required for the states they are traveling through. For your peace of mind you should have the animal checked by a vet and obtain a health certificate to insure that the animal you are buying is healthy.
If you have any questions that I haven't addressed here please IM me, e-mail, call or text.
Oh and as far as a web address... I have not created a web site... Maybe someday but so far Facebook and word of mouth are working well.
