We’re not done traveling, we’re taking a small break!

Hey friends, I have some heavy news to share. I’ve been diagnosed with Stage 2 Triple Negative breast cancer. It’s a heavy load that I was not expecting to carry. If you’re on TikTok, I started a page - thepinkdetour that I’ll use to document this journey with the hopes that it’ll be helpful to someone else facing similar challenges.

For now, we’ve parked the rig and are staying on the Crystal Coast of NC while we fight this battle.

Edit to add: we are in near blizzard conditions and we’ve got the igloo effect. The snow is so protective that the heat isn’t running as much as it was. In other words, loving this storm and not complaining at all!

Today we explored New Bern, NC, which is such a cute little town! Even though we lived in Wilmington for 12 years, neither one of us ever came up here. We ate lunch at Morgan’s Tavern (5 stars!) and then took in the sights of all the historic buildings and surrounding water. If you can get here, come!
