Commodity prices genuinely fluctuate — that part is real. But when a rebate drops and the only explanation offered is "market conditions," ask which index, which grade, and what changed. A provider working transparently can point to the benchmark. One that can't may be relying on you not asking. The question is reasonable. Ask it.

The best-designed program fails at the dock if the people using it don't know why it matters. Clear signage, a short walkthrough at onboarding, and telling the team what the material is actually worth changes behavior more than any policy memo. People sort properly when they understand there's a reason. Explain the reason.

Beyond rebates, your recycling paperwork is a record. Where material went, who took it, how it was handled, what was diverted. That record matters for audits, for corporate reporting, and for questions that surface years later. Providers who can't produce a clean trail leave you carrying the gap. Ask what documentation you'd receive.

Grocery generates constant, predictable, high-quality OCC (Old Corrugated Containers) — and also film, produce crates, and back-of-house material that usually gets compacted with everything else. The volume is steady enough to plan around, which makes it some of the easiest material to build a real program on. Consistency is worth as much as volume in this market.

Message us for an evaluation built around retail and grocery back-of-house.

Most facilities can name their top recyclable and almost none can name their third. Pallet scrap, banding, core tubes, obsolete inventory packaging, damaged totes, scrap metal from maintenance. Individually minor, collectively meaningful — and almost always going out as trash because nobody ever inventoried them. Walk your dock and count what leaves. Contact us for a free recycling audit

They solve different problems. A compactor reduces the volume of material you're paying to dispose of . A baler produces a marketable, gradeable commodity you can sell. If your highest-volume material is recyclable and you're compacting it, you're paying to destroy the value of something you could be selling. The right answer depends entirely on what you generate.

Lithium-ion batteries are found in more business equipment than many people realize: laptops, cordless tools, mobile devices, scanners, e-cigarettes, backup power units, and rechargeable electronics.

When these batteries are placed in recycling or trash bins, they can be crushed, punctured, or damaged during collection and sorting. A damaged battery can short-circuit and enter thermal runaway—a rapid overheating event that may cause smoke, fire, or explosion.

For commercial recycling operations, one misplaced battery can put employees, collection vehicles, sorting equipment, and entire facilities at risk. These fires are difficult to control and can cause expensive equipment damage and significant service interruptions.

The safer option: Keep batteries out of all recycling and waste containers. Set up a designated battery collection point, train employees on proper disposal, and work with a qualified battery recycler for pickup or drop-off solutions.

Proper battery recycling is not just a sustainability step—it is an important workplace safety practice.
