🐘 Snippets from my experience at in Northern Thailand…
Spending the day alongside rescued elephants was one of the most humbling and unforgettable experiences of my travels. Founded by renowned elephant rights advocate Saengduen “Lek” Chailert, this sanctuary provides a safe home for elephants rescued from riding camps, circuses, street begging, and other harmful situations.
What made this experience so special was the ethical approach. There was no riding, bathing, or performing—just the opportunity to walk next to the elephants, observe them in their natural environment, learn their stories, and witness firsthand the incredible work being done to protect and rehabilitate them.
Watching these elephants roam freely, socialize with their herds, and simply be elephants was a powerful reminder of why responsible wildlife tourism matters.
If you’re visiting Northern Thailand and looking for a meaningful experience that supports animal welfare and conservation, this is one I wholeheartedly recommend.
✨ This is what bucket list dreams are made of.
