An accidental ballroom dancer: Brain Health to Mental Health
A few weeks ago, I signed up for ballroom dancing purely for the neuroplasticity benefits. My Mom’s memory is fading and it runs in her family, so I’m trying to be proactive and do all I can to challenge and support my brain as I age.
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT WAS UNEXPECTED
I’m still processing it all, but after each lesson I began to feel the heavy layers of stress and distress I was holding onto from this past year dealing with all the dupes, legal battles, deceit and heartbreak from people I trusted lighten. Suddenly, my goal of strenthening my brain and creating new neural pathways, became a way to help my body to find its way back to balance and heal my heart.
THE STORM BECAME THE NORM
Along with an already rigorous schedule, the added stress caused a complete dissregulation of my nervous system and while the fight has made me stronger in some ways, it has broken parts of me in others and the “storm became the norm.”
While, I do my best not to let it rule or ruin my days, or deter me from the greater purpose of serving those who support us by creating educational opportunities, and sharing the life-changing benefits of The Lymphatic Brush, protecting my intellectual property and preserving the integrity of my work has been a constant battle that has affected my physical and mental health.
SHARING MY GRATITUDE 🙏🏼
I tear up a little each time I watch this video, NOT because I butchered the Tango and turned it into a waltz with my music choice, but because I can feel my heart healing and it makes me so grateful for everyone who has supported and fought alongside me.
It means the world and keeps our small business alive!!! 🙏🏼
A shoutout to sabadevdariani_ and Danylo my two incredible instructors, and all my new friends at Fred Astaire Dance Studios - Downtown New York who have unknowingly helped me find a way back to myself. Thanks for sharing your passions and patience. I think I may have accidentally become a ballroom dancer.
I encourage everyone to try a new activity, step out of your comfort zone, challenge your brain and dance 💃🏻
